African Brew – will there be a second edition?

For months people have been asking me when the second edition of African Brew will be released. “It needs an update!” they say. “There are so many new breweries – we want another edition.” They (you) are quite right of course but I can confirm that there will not be another edition of African Brew. Keep yours on a shelf, folks, for it is soon to be an out-of-print collectors’ item (if you, for some strange reason, didn’t get around to buying a copy, there are still a couple of hundred left – contact me if you’d like to buy a signed copy straight from the author).

But before you start watering down the beer you’re drinking (I assume everyone drinks beer while reading this blog) with woeful tears, I have exciting news! Today I got the go-ahead from Random House Struik and can confirm that I will soon be researching a follow-up to African Brew, titled Beer Safari. Like African Brew, it will feature the brewers’ stories and since there are so many breweries now, we’ll be doing away with food recipes in order to make room for the huge expansion in the beer industry.

So it’s all about beer, beer, beer…and at this stage, that’s pretty much all I’m going to tell you!

I like the name much more than the too generic African Brew. So much, that I actually registered beersafari.co.za when we released our beer safari menu early 2014…

Thanks Randolf. took me a while to come up with something I like as much as African Brew, but I’m now rather fond of the title too 🙂
