Win tickets for Bierfest at Newlands Brewery

There’s something wrong with this picture… Ah yes, need to get that Mass filled on November 4th!!

There’s a photo on my fridge that’s been there for a year. It’s of me, my hubby, a couple of mates and my in-laws. I love it because there’s a lot of happiness, because my father-in-law looks about ready for a beer-induced nap and because it was taken to a backdrop of oompah music, steins of beer and a herd of burly men dressed in matching shirts and underpants, raising cash for the Sunflower Fund.

Welcome to Bierfest. If you’ve never been, it’s an absolute blast. Waitresses clad in dirndl (though I always complain that they pale in comparison to the Munich beer wenches when it comes to number of mass they can carry in one hand…) bring litres of beer, plates of pretzels and eisbein the size of an overweight chihuahua to long tables filled with elated beer lovers. Lederhosen-wearing musicians play traditional ‘Fest tunes and drinkers join in by singing “Ein Prosit” and enthusiastically clinking glasses every 15 minutes or so. I’ve had the great pleasure of attending the real Oktoberfest in Munich and I have to tell you, this is a bloody good approximation.

Well it’s that time again. Bierfest is back! And best of all, I have FOUR sets of two tickets to give away to this year’s Bierfest, held at Newlands Brewery from November 4th-6th. The tickets are valid for either the Friday evening session (when I will be there, incidentally) or for the Saturday afternoon session (11am-4pm). To enter, all you have to do is tweet this:

“Hey fraulein @LucyCorne – I want to win tickets to @SABierfest on Nov 4/5 @NewlandsBrewery. Prost!”

Winners will be announced on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday next week. The more you Tweet, the more chance you have to win!

The fourth set of tickets will be given away over on my Facebook page, so head on over for details of that…
