If you live in the Overberg and were watching last week’s many Cape Town beer events with envy, it’s time to rejoice! This weekend, it’s your turn, with two days of beery events held at Fraser’s Folly brewery near Elim. And if you’re not an Overberger, it is a long weekend for many, thanks to women’s day falling on a Thursday, so it’s a great excuse to spend a few days at the southernmost tip of Africa.
Things kick off on Friday with the Brewer’s Reserve dinner.at Black Oystercatcher Wines (home to Fraser’s Folly). Each dish at the multi-course feast comes with a beer pairing and you can expect some special brews from the Fraser’s Folly Brewer’s Reserve range (no-one knows what these are yet so it’s all very exciting). There will be live comedy and plenty of Fraser’s beer on tap. Tickets are R300 and are limited, so get yours quickly.
On Saturday morning, Fraser is staging a Homebrewing 101 session in conjunction with the Helderberg Homebrewers. During the two-hour session, you’ll get top tips on how to brew better beer and the R180 entrance fee also includes entrance to the main event: the On Tap At the Tip Craft Beer Festival.
On Tap at the Tip kicks off at 11am on Saturday August 11th. The fest features beers from half a dozen Overberg craft breweries as well as a few from further afield. There will be draught cider and of course wine from Black Oystercatcher. Tickets are on sale now for R120 (including a taster glass), but I also have two pairs of tickets to give away!!
Ts & Cs: Participants must be over 18. Two winners will be drawn at random on Wednesday 8th August at 5pm Each winner will get two tickets to the On Tap at the Tip festival on August 11th.
