This blog is generally all about beer, beer, beer, but do you know what beer lovers love? Whiskey. It’s kind of beer’s closest cousin and this weekend Cape Town is host to a festival dedicated to American whiskey.
The House of Machines has partnered with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, Gentlemen Jack, Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, Woodford Reserve, and Bulleit Bourbon to stage Proof, The American Whiskey Festival – a one-day fest taking place in Cape Town’s CBD.
There will be eight whiskeys offered on the day, available in a variety of cocktails, with mixers, or straight up. Between sips, you can learn more about what you’re drinking at special stations manned by brand ambassadors.
Keeping the American theme going, there will be southern-style food (think smoked ribs, slow-roasted brisket, pulled-pork and the like) from an impressive selection of local restaurants and vendors: The Shortmarket Club, Jason Bakery, Frankie Fenner Meat Merchants, and Picadas.
Proof is taking place on Sunday May 27 on Shortmarket Street, between Loop and Bree Streets, gates open at 12pm, with live music starting at 1pm. Tickets are available through Webtickets and cost R180 for entry to the fest and the “activation rooms” or R300 with three American whiskey cocktails thrown in..
But wait – I have two set of tickets to give away! Want to be sipping whiskey and chowing down on ribs ‘n’ brisket this Sunday? All you have to do is head over to my Facebook page, read the pinned post and follow the instructions (they involve nothing more than a bit of liking, sharing and tagging – fairly simple stuff!!)
