A few years ago, on any given Saturday you could find a whole load of beer fests to choose from in the Cape Town area. Some were amazing, others badly run and others just a total rip off. Many have fallen away and the cream, as it tends to do, has risen. The Woodstock Winter Beer Festival is one of those aforementioned amazing fests, run by brewers, for brewers and of course, for beer lovers. And it’s back – this time with an epic new location.
On August 4th, the Woodstock Winter Beer Festival will return for its fourth incarnation, this time at the city’s oldest building, the Castle of Good Hope. Beers from 17 local breweries will be available, namely Aegir Project, Afro Caribbean, Brewers Co-op, Dissident, Drifter, Lakeside, Metal Lane, Mountain, Riot, Stellenbosch Brewing Co., Stone Circle, Woodstock Brewery, Ukhamba Beerworx, Atlantic Storm, Shackleton, The Kennel Brewery and Old Potter’s Inn.
Tickets are R80 online or R100 at the door (kids under 12 are free), but wait, what is this – I appear to have a pair of tickets to give away! You can enter on Twitter or Facebook, or if you’re not a social media person (what!!) you can even enter right here on the blog. In fact, why not enter across all platforms – keep your bases covered.
To enter, I am going to make you work a little. None of this “RT to win” nonsense. I want to know which beer you’re most excited to taste at this year’s WWBF. One of the best things about the fest is that each participating brewery has to bring a once-off, wintry beer to pour. You can find details of the beers on the WWBF Facebook event page – scroll a bit to get all the info. Then you can post your reply in the comments below, you can enter on the pinned post on my Facebook page, or you can Tweet the following:
