This Saturday (July 1st) heralds the arrival of one of my favourite beer gatherings – the Woodstock Winter Beer Festival. It’s chilled, it’s very affordable and it’s filled with one-off wintry beers brewed especially for the event. Fancy sampling a sour black IPA? Head to Woodstock Brewery’s stand. How about a peanut butter porter? Drifter has you covered. Metal Lane have brewed a whisky barrel-aged porter, Aegir are bringing a peppermint porter and ACBC have collaborated with Atlantic Storm to produce an imperial golden stout. And of course, each of the 13 breweries in attendance will be bringing other brews from their core range.
The festival takes place at the Palms Decor and Lifestyle Centre from 2pm to 10pm. Tickets are a bargain R60 (plus R5 booking fee) online, or R80 if you wait and pay at the door.
