South African National Homebrew Championships 2015

Finally, the announcement has been made – the 2015 South African National Homebrew Championships are taking place and it’s time to get brewing. The deadline for entries is October 30th 2015 and there are drop-off points in Cape Town, Jo’burg, Pretoria, Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Bloemfontein, Thabazimbi and Hartbeespoort. Judging will take place on Saturday 14th November in both Cape Town and Jo’burg, with the final round of judging happening in Jo’burg two weeks later. The winners will be announced at the end of November.

The entry fee is R100 for one beer or R150 for two – you can only enter a maximum of two brews.

Prizes and sponsors are still being finalised, so bookmark this post and check back for updates. For now though, get brewing! You can brew anything you like, as long as it fits into a style in the 2015 BJCP Guidelines (the competition will be judged to the new guidelines, so make sure you enter your brew in the right category!).

Keep an eye on your local homebrewing club as well – the Wort Hogs in Gauteng/NW, the East Coast Brewers in KZN and the SouthYeasters in the Western Cape.

Happy brewing and good luck!

All the details – including rules and drop-off locations can be found on the National Homebrew Champs website: www.nationalhomebrew.co.za.
