Some of you might recall that earlier this year, at the South African National Beer Trophy, that at the People’s Choice for best beer went to Black Label. This irked pretty much everyone I know (I mean come on – it’s not even SAB’s best). So in the interests of giving good beer a chance to shine, I present to you The Brewmistress Beer Awards 2017.

There are 10 categories, though you don’t have to vote in every one if you can’t spare the extra 47 seconds to fill in the whole form. It’s anonymous so dig deep, be honest – even if that means you want to vote for Black Label. (Seriously though, at least choose Castle).

Voting opens on November 20th and closes on December 1st at midnight. The winners will be announced in a star-studded blog post on December 15th with the awards ceremony taking place never, because there are no prizes (other than eternal glory of course). Actually, that’s not quite true – there are prizes for you, dear voter, including a case of Loxton Lager complete with branded glassware and a Beer O’clock tasting tray at Beerhouse FourwaysPrizes TBA (watch this space) but if you choose to add your name and email you will go into a lucky draw – just to say Merry Christmas and thanks for playing.

So without further ado, here is the link to the voting form. Fill it in. Tell your friends. Share it far and wide – and may the best beer/brewery/bar/store etc etc win! Oh and by the way – the Black Label Award for Beer of the Year is just a silly name for the category of best South African beer you’ve had in 2017. It’s not where you give your opinions on Black Label. You guys get so confused sometimes…
