I don’t need to tell you what a tough year it’s been for South African brewers. Booze bans and constantly changing restrictions on the on-con/off-con sale of alcohol have made it incredibly difficult for brewers to make ends meet. But rather than curl up in a ball and cry until 2020 goes away, South African microbrewers have really stepped up. They’ve opened new taprooms, they’ve launched new beers, they’ve collaborated with other breweries, with celebrities, mushroom growers, charities and trucking companies. They have, to use the word of the year, pivoted in a way that would make Dr Ross Geller proud.
And so it is time to celebrate their triumphs in the annual Brewmistress South African Beer Awards! This is your chance to vote for your favourite beers, breweries, tap rooms, restaurants, liquor stores and more. Voting opens today (December 14) and closes on December 21, with results announced on Christmas Eve. You’ll find the voting form here. So what are you waiting for?
And for those that couldn’t be bothered to read the rest of the post and just want to get to the business of voting:
