I have no idea whether these Change.org petitions actually work. There are so many of them at the moment – petition to ban cigarettes, petition to overturn the ban on cigarettes, petition to overturn the overturning of the ban on cigarettes (actually, if I’m keeping up, that one seemed to work – and it only took 2000 signatures 😉 )
There have been numerous versions in the alcohol industry as well, but I’m backing this one because it is fighting for all alcoholic beverages, not only beer or wine or spirits. It seems selfish to campaign only for your own business and foolish for the industry not to stand together.
So it might not work, but I think it gives us something to focus on; something to work together on. So take a read and if you agree with the sentiments and the reasoning, give it a signature. And I’d highly recommend you start ordering some supplies online for whenever alcohol sales are opened up. The mayhem of liquor stores being open for four hours a day, three days a week (as per stage three plans) is going to make you want to voluntarily confine yourself to your house. You’ll find links to breweries who are taking online orders here and here.

Hi Lucy
If I may ask why the payment to help table this petition is in Botswana Pula and not South African Rands?
Many thanks,
Dave
Hmm, that’s weird. It shows as rand on my side. Any donation is completely optional though. it’s more about the signatures 😀
