Some of my beer besties

I love the Cape Town Festival of Beer. It’s probably my favourite beerfest of the year. Sure, part of that is because the festival is basically a reunion – I can see pretty much all my friends in South Africa without walking more than a couple of hundred metres. But I also love the layout and the bands and the vast array of beers to sample and the hot beef sandwiches. Man I am looking forward to one of those hot beef sandwiches (from Black Market – check them out, line your stomach with one. You will not be sorry).

And because I love the fest so much and I think you’re all fairly awesome, I’m giving away not one, not two, but THREE sets of tickets for the Friday session of the fest. Each pair of tickets is valued at R300 and comes with a guaranteed good time! Gates open on Friday at noon (it’s my favourite day of the year to hear the Noon Gun). True beer geeks (without true jobs) adore the chilled Friday daytime vibe – lots of time to talk IBUs and mash temps with the brewers – while Friday evening boasts an awesome lineup of live bands including Los Tacos and Grassy Spark.

New breweries this year include Aegir Project, Drifter, Hoghouse, Afro Caribbean and a couple of places I’ve never heard of – Hoptown and Indie Ale. The SouthYeasters will be doing a brewing demo, I’ll be selling (and signing) copies of Beer Safari for the bargain price of R220 and did I mention the hot beef sandwiches??
