Hey, Cape Town foodies and boozers – this blog post is for you.

Remember those awesome Grape vs Grain events that you heard about earlier in the year? You know, the ones where I faced my arch nemesis, Cathy Marston – “The Wine Lady” – and we battled it out to see whether wine or beer paired better with certain foodstuffs…well, we’re back!

This time, the contest takes the form of a five-course dinner at Harveys Restaurant at Winchester Mansions in Sea Point. Each course will be paired with a wine (booooo!) and a beer (hooray!) and you, the diner/drinker will get to choose who got the pairing right each time – me (yeay!) or Cathy ‎(boooo, hiss).

So why would you want to join us? Well, this one-off culinary event is for you if:

You enjoy fine food
You like great wine
You LOVE drinking beer
You’re a fan of having fun
You like to get embroiled in culinary arguments with random strangers (diners will sit together on tables of 10)
You like heckling
You enjoy being heckled in return
You love a good competition
You are awesome

It will not appeal if:

You don’t like talking to people
You don’t like food
You don’t enjoy wine
You hate beer
You suck…

I assume everyone who reads my blog fits into the former category, so here’s what you need to do: get a group together (or not – come alone and meet some like-minded folks if you prefer), clear your schedule on October 10th, pay your R395 per person and join us on the night to eat, drink, be merry, get a cab home and of course, vote beer beer BEER!!!!
