We’ve got breweries, we’ve got a dining scene that now means you’ll find at least one craft beer available wherever you eat, we’ve got active homebrewing clubs, annual beer conferences, a host of festivals, we’ve got beer bloggers and beer Instagrammers and beer tasting clubs and brewing supply stores. What I’m trying to say is that in South Africa, we’ve now got a beer culture. And from September 2016, we will also have a magazine dedicated to celebrating that beer culture.
On Tap launches in just over a month. Published by Jo’burg-based Inhouse Publications, the magazine will feature news, interviews, events listings, recipes, technical brewing info, beery travel guides, beer reviews and a range of features celebrating the South African beer scene. It’s not all beer though – we’ll also take a look at what’s happening in boutique wine, craft spirits and artisanal cider. If it’s South African and it’s boozy, we’re interested. And of course, international beer news will also make an appearance, along with occasional overseas beer-inspired travel.
I say “we” because I’m rather thrilled to say that I have been asked to come on board as On Tap’s editor – an offer I, of course, excitedly accepted. I’m looking for beer-loving contributors to the magazine. If you’d like to learn more, please get in touch and I will send the editorial guidelines.
The quarterly magazine will be sent out to tap rooms, bars and liquor stores around the country, but to guarantee you get your copy every quarter, subscribe now.
If you’d like to do a little targeted advertising, get in touch with Andrew, the mag’s publisher to get your brewery/bar/supply company/design company/restaurant/distribution company/booze-related product seen by an interested audience.
Follow On Tap on Twitter or like the Facebook page for regular updates. And keep an eye out for the magazine in September.
