What a year 2022 has been. People got to travel again; they got to comfortably cough in public again. The only thing we had to go back to the car for as we set foot through the doors of Pick n Pay was our reusable shopping bags and not our masks as well. We all drank loads of beer, we got to go back to beer festivals. We can hug and hold hands and lick the faces of our friends, should we so desire! As the year comes to an end, let’s celebrate what will (hopefully) be 365 days without a break in booze sales. Now just imagine a 2023 with 365 days without a break in electricity supply!
Hahahahahaha. Just kidding. I’m trying to ramble on long enough for the page to do OK in web searches. So let’s get on with it. This year there’s been a lot to celebrate, not least that very few of our breweries actually ended up closing despite the doom of 2020 and 2021. So it’s time to give all your beery favourites some love in the annual Brewmistress South African Beer Awards. Voting remains open until Thursday 22 December, with winners announced the following day. Probably. Hangover permitting.

I’m very impressed with OC breweries. They come up with new brews every few weeks, using new ingredients, new techniques like cryogenic hops in layman terms. Awesome beers.
