south african national beer trophySince the demise of the National Craft Beer Championships, the South African National Beer Trophy (SANBT) is South Africa’s only national beer competition. It’s now in its third year and entries are open to licenced microbrewers in South Africa.

Brewers can enter any style of beer as long as the beer is not a one-off experimental brew. To be eligible, a brewery must have at least one beer that is commercially available and must brew batches of at least 200 litres. contract brewers are also eligible to enter.

Entries must be shipped to Cape Town by the end of June. Judging – which will be to the BJCP guidelines – will take place in early July, with winners announced in July or August.

The cost to enter is R500 (plus VAT) per beer.

For more info on the competition check out the SANBT website, or go straight to the entry form if you’re ready to submit your beers.

Good luck!
